The Reason I've Been Quiet
A brief one this week folks–and another thank you for sticking with me. I can finally be clear in saying that I got a book deal for When/If that has a fairly swift turnaround time, so I have been writing mostly toward that project and neglecting this one. That is not likely to change, as I've still got a ways to go. So, thank you, especially to the folks who have been here from the jump, and please hold on a bit longer.
Despite my working on the book, the world has not held back. I think it's becoming fairly obvious now that we're operating in a very tenuous position. It's not just that we're close to full-on fascism (we're all but there), but that with the government operating in disregard of its people, we're also likely to engage in civil conflict–yeah, I'm putting that back on the board. Additionally, we could be on the verge of the bursting of the AI tech bubble, upon which our economy is currently resting. If it goes, we could see a severe recession. Economic instability–more specifically, the inability for people to feed themselves–is a remarkable indicator of conflict. You put these things together and things look might precarious.
Lastly, a report was released that has stated we have knocked over our first climatic tipping point (at least, the first one for sure). Coral reefs are the bedrock of their ecosystems, and ocean warming and acidification have devastated these complex organisms. Without them, marine life–and ocean health–suffers greatly. This is a tipping point; we will see everything worsen because of this, and faster. It might not seem like the "worst" tipping point that could have fallen–it's probably not so obvious as, say, the vanishing of Arctic ice, or something–but it is awful, nonetheless.
I will continue to pop in here and provide updates, and hopefully the occasional regular post, while I work on the book. Thanks again for your patience and support!
